Golden Treasure of a Book
Beautiful
Unusual and Fascinating

Must be read by anyone who loves his or her mother...Dyer uses cunningly descriptive metaphors throughout the book, as well as well-placed bits of comic relief in what could have easily become a much too depressing story. She reveals enough of herself personally to allow the reader to understand how she and her mother developed the relationship they had. While this is a story about a woman who has AD, it's also a story about a daughter's relationship with her mother - regardless of any illness. It reveals what we children can and will do for our parents when the tables (ultimately) turn.
It is a tale of courage and faith, of patience and hope, of acceptance and love.
Personal Account Makes the DifferenceMs. Dyer's MO is to simply present her story about her mother intertwined with the stories of other people in the home with her mother. She reflects on her mother's past, on their shared pasts, on her own past. She doesn't ever get overly weepy, but Dyer does present her feelings as her mother decays further and further away from her true self. Overall, though, you feel that Dyer was happy to be able to experience this trying time with her mother, and you get a glimpse of the strength that it must have taken to come back to the home each day.
It's clear that writing about her experiences is therapy. But reading about them is therapy, too; it forces you to think about "something else," something more grave than whether you should handwash that plate and whether the lawn needs another cut. In reality, Dyer reveals many issues of the basic human condition that are grounds for thoughtful discussion and planning.
I enjoyed every bit of the book. The personal account format really drew me in, and the reality and emotion kept me reading.
The best book I've read on the subject of Alzheimer's

Inspiring, informative and entertaining look at topicjust heard him on a PBS special, in which he described how he
often sends those who write him a gift for no special reason . . . so when he graciously sent me his live lecture tape series, SECRETS OF YOUR OWN HEALING POWER, I rushed to listen to it . . . my reaction: WOW!
As is the case with any book or tape put out by Dyer, you'll be
inspired and informed when experiencing it . . . in addition, you'll be entertained (as was the group of chiropractic professionals fortunate to be able to hear him).
He emphasizes that the secrets to healing are not somewhere "out
there," but rather, healing is something that takes place inside each and every one of us, occurring when we "connect to our Source" and bring Spirit to the disease." He emphasizes that healers need to be able to banish doubt and see their clients as individuals who already possess the capacity to heal themselves. That is, those with health challenges need to have someone in their energy field who truly believes that healing can take place.
These other observations by Dyer also caught my attention:
Doctors when they misdiagnose . . . do they then agree to having
misbilled?
When you place a label on somebody you negate them. You then
begin to treat the label, not the person.
Four words will end all conflicts in relationships: You're right about that.
good take control and get over it
Awakening the Self to Inner Healing.

Buy this bookThe words as well as the illustrations are wonderful.
Wonderful book
This is a great bedtime story!

Enlightening
Changed My Life

Excellent collection of poems
Excellent book for young toddlers!!

Awakened as in Early Morning
One I wanted to hear right through as soon as I hit "Play"I wanted to hear it right through in the one afternoon, and once again only days after the first playing, which is unusual for me. If it was a book, you would call it a "page turner".
It hangs together well despite being a very varied collection of observations and stories, and it really transported me to a somewhat better place while I was listening to it. (Which was handy at the time!)
As we say in Australia, a darn good yarn.

An outstanding book!
a very important book

Writer Of Realities
A Poetic Journey

A school-story series that endures
Jo and The Chalet SchoolJo's last year and she is made head girl, is given the responsibilities that she loathes and really has to pull up and leave behind childish antics. There are difficulties all around with Robin's illness and the middles worse than ever and all this calls for a responsible Jo who can take command of all the varied difficult situations that the term holds for her, Jo really has to grow up.
I loved this book because I could relate to it and sometimes I could see myself in Jo's place facing the "change" that at first seems so horrid yet is the mysterious doorway to the second stage of our lives.
A Gorgeous edition and a must read for all those who don't want to grow up.
